You acknowledge that you are solely responsible for ensuring that any medical imaging data, cases, or related content you upload has been properly de-identified in accordance with HIPAA standards before submission to our platform.
Before uploading any content, you must ensure complete de-identification by removing or modifying all direct identifiers and quasi-identifiers that could potentially be used to identify patients, including but not limited to:
You are solely responsible for ensuring all content you upload complies with applicable privacy laws, including but not limited to HIPAA in the United States, GDPR in the European Union, and any other relevant data protection regulations in your jurisdiction.
When you upload DICOM studies to our platform, our system automatically discards most DICOM metadata to protect patient privacy. However, the following specific DICOM fields are extracted and used to auto-populate default values in your case submission:
You understand that the study name and series name fields are used to generate default study and series names for your case submission, which you have complete freedom to review and modify before publishing your case. Similarly, the modality and body part examined fields are used to auto-populate the corresponding sections of your case description, which you also have complete freedom to review and change prior to submission.
You acknowledge and agree that it is entirely your responsibility to review these auto-populated fields and ensure they are completely free of any protected health information or patient identifying information before finalizing your case submission.
THIS IS YOUR SOLE RESPONSIBILITY: You understand and acknowledge that it is solely and entirely your responsibility to ensure that the actual image data (pixel data) within your DICOM files does not contain any hard-coded, burned-in, or embedded patient identifiers. This is particularly critical for modalities such as:
You warrant that you have carefully reviewed all images in your DICOM studies to ensure that patient names, medical record numbers, dates of birth, social security numbers, addresses, phone numbers, or any other identifying information are not visible anywhere within the actual image pixels. This includes but is not limited to:
You understand that while our system processes DICOM metadata, it cannot automatically detect or remove patient identifiers that are embedded within the pixel data of the images themselves. Therefore, this responsibility rests entirely with you as the content contributor.
You expressly agree that you will not make any attempt to identify, re-identify, or determine the identity of any patient, individual, or institution associated with any medical imaging case, DICOM data, or related content posted on this platform. This prohibition includes but is not limited to attempting to identify patients through:

All content that you choose to publish publicly on DicomTube.com is automatically and irrevocably licensed for use by any other user under the Creative Commons Attribution–ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY‑SA 4.0).
This license cannot be altered, revoked, or replaced once the content has been published publicly. If you have an active Premium Subscription, you may publish cases privately. Private cases are not subject to the CC BY‑SA 4.0 license. Instead, they are treated as restricted content, and all permissions regarding access, sharing, reuse, or redistribution are entirely at your discretion.
